Emma Clews

My name is Emma Clews and I am an Integrative Body Psychotherapist based in Brighton.

I offer psychotherapy to adults on a one to one basis.

I work online using video calls primarily via Zoom.

You may be seeking help for a variety of reasons:

How could I help?

You could have a clear idea of what you want to get from therapy or have no real direction other than knowing that you want some sort of independent help or support.

My aim as a therapist is to be a sympathetic listener, providing a non-judgmental, confidential environment and space for you to reflect and express yourself outside of the pressures of everyday life and social obligations.

Having trained as an Integrative Body Psychotherapist, this forms the foundation of my approach. My training also included Relational Psychotherapy and this significantly informs my work – how we ‘meet’ each other and how and when we feel ‘seen’. When we feel invisible as a child, relationships throughout our lives are affected - friendships, work and romantic. And often this sense of invisibility pervades our day-to-day experience eg it can make people feel worthless or that they don't matter. Of course the opposite is also often true, where we can feel ‘too visible’ and consequently invaded and overwhelmed.

Additionally neuro-diversity such as Asperger's and ADHD has become an area of particular interest for me in recent years which traditional psychotherapy training does not always cover. This new awareness has led me to deepen my study and understanding, supporting me to offer a more attuned and sensitive lens. For example it can be important to try and understand if spending time alone is due to 'avoidant' attachment patterns from childhood or is simply a response to sensory overload from being in social situations. My interest has been driven by both my professional and personal experiences.
